Up Memory Creek (Final Version)
The memories of life are a lot like the flowing water of a creek One day, it’s steady, calm, and tranquil The next, it’s wild, unruly, washing over you as it all comes back all at once Serene was the summer days where life was simple Chaotic were the days that followed In your youth, you spent your days down by the creek You bask in the sun on the shore You allowed the creek to wash over you as you swam in its waters Now it’s all behind you A distant memory of days long since passed And the waters begin to subside in your absence Yet bittersweet are the memories With age comes nostalgia, and with age comes wisdom and truth An ugly truth can taint the taste of any memory But a beautiful revelation can bring about bountiful knowledge You left the past behind you, and that is for the best For the memories of life is a lot like a creek Full of twists and turns You never know what’s around the bend
